A mandatory registration issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) that holds producers, importers, and brand owners responsible for the end-of-life management of batteries. It ensures that used batteries are collected, refurbished, or recycled to recover valuable materials and prevent environmental hazards.
It is required for any entity introducing batteries into the Indian market, regardless of chemistry (Lead-acid, Lithium-ion, Nickel-cadmium, etc.) or use (Automotive, Industrial, Portable, or Electric Vehicle batteries), including:
Manufacturers of batteries or battery components.
Importers of batteries or equipment containing batteries (like laptops, EVs, or UPS systems).
Brand Owners who sell batteries under their own registered label.
Required Documents
Company Credentials: GST Certificate, Company PAN Card, and Certificate of Incorporation (CIN).
Identity Proof: Aadhaar and PAN Card of the Authorized Signatory.
Trade License: Import-Export Code (IEC) is mandatory for all importers.
Technical Details: List of battery types (Categories) and their brand names.
Sales Data: Self-declaration of the quantity of batteries sold in previous years.
Compliance Documents: DIC Registration or Factory License (for manufacturers).
